Jean Grey's childhood and Marvel Girl Phoenix manifestations!

Jean Grey's powers awakened when she experienced the death of her childhood friend, Annie Richardson, as told in Bizarre Adventures #27.

According to Jean's official bio and X-Men Grand Design #1, it was this event that caused the Phoenix Force to notice her and realize she was one of its divine physical hosts.
The Classic X-Men #42 backstory reveals that when Xavier counseled 11 year old Jean, a part of her subconscious mind reached out as the Phoenix and touched the mind of young Scott Summers while he was living in the orphanage.  Clearly, Jean's mind was beginning to connect to the Phoenix on a subconscious level.

In the Marvel Girl #1 one shot, Jean as Marvel Girl manifests a quasi-phoenix effect with her pink psychic energies as she reflects on the death of her friend Annie and affirms her desire to live.

X-Men: The Hidden Years #8 and #9 reveals that while on a mission in outer space, Jean Grey as Marvel Girl was again noticed and scanned by the Phoenix Force.   The Force notices Jean's unlimited potential.  Jean has a vision of herself becoming Phoenix, but forgets it as soon as the vision ends.

In X-Men: First Class volume 2, #8--Jean as Marvel Girl is temporarily teleported into a possible future where she has been reborn as Phoenix.  However, Jean is confused and disoriented and doesn't understand what is going on or what it truly means.
